About the Author
D. H. Lawrence (1885-1930) was born in the Nottinghamshire mining town of Eastwood.His father worked in the colliery and mis mother in a lace factory.Although he qualified as a teacher, Lawrence’s passion was for writing.Lawrence’s desire to examine the truth of emotion in relationships resulted in an often ‘earthy’ use of language, which earned him much criticism when he was alive, but which nowadays is heralded for its honesty.
